SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. and Las Vegas, Nev. - September 6, 2007 - Interbike today announced the return of the Interbike Media Center, a working newsroom and TV studio on the show floor designed to help journalists conduct the business of reporting the news of the 2007 Interbike International Bicycle Expo, which runs from September 24-28, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Equipped with a TV interview studio and working newsroom area, the Interbike Media Center will be located again on the main floor of the Sands Expo Center in booth #5375 and will be open for use by credentialed members of the media during the three indoor exhibition days of Interbike.
The 30- x 40-foot Media Center will include a TV studio interview area for media companies or exhibiting manufacturers interested in conducting, recording or broadcasting news about new products, celebrities, panel discussions, advocacy, etc.
During the three days of the indoor portion of Interbike 2006, the Interbike Media Center became the premier background for more than 120 interviews with industry heavyweights and celebrities. Interview footage supplied 12 hours of live broadcast to attendees and exhibitors on the show floor and taped footage for video streaming on participating media companies' Web sites, such as Bicycling, Bike Magazine, BMXer, Cycling.tv, Dirt Rag, VitalBMX, VeloNews and World Cycling Productions.
"Each year, the media does a great job of covering the show and bringing attention to the exhibitors," said Lance Camisasca, Interbike's show director. "We received great feedback about last year's Media Center from both the media and exhibitors, so we wanted to bring it back. Based on that feedback we are also making changes to booth design and amenities, and we plan on working very closely before the show with those interested in using the TV studio to help them make the most of their broadcast efforts."
In 2007, online cycling broadcaster Cycling.tv will again be the Official Media Center Technology Partner, providing the necessary equipment and technical experience for the television studio and producing their own daily live program. Cycling.tv will also help Interbike produce its own daily interview show, Good Morning Interbike.
Confirmed returning media outlets using the TV studio are Bike Magazine, BMXer, Cycling.tv, Dirt Rag, VitalBMX, and VeloNews. Limited time slots in the TV studio are still available.
The TV studio interview area will be built on an elevated platform, and surrounding the exterior of the Media Center will be plasma screens to display video content that is edited and broadcast directly from the fully equipped control room. Other monitors will also be positioned in locations around the Interbike show floor, lobby and registration areas to help broaden the reach of the video feeds.
The Interbike Media Center will also include a working newsroom with desks, terminals and Internet access for journalists to file stories and/or work on the show floor. Refreshments and snacks will be provided in the Media Center to visiting journalists and the guests of the Media Center.
Media companies and exhibiting manufacturers will be able to use the Media Center's TV studio in segments of up to 60 minutes in length during regular show hours on September 26, 27 and 28. Interested parties should contact Chip Smith of SOAR Communications (csmith@soarcomm.com or 801-523-3730) to reserve time slots. Such time slots are available on a first-come basis; however, both Interbike and SOAR Communications reserve the right to limit use of the Media Center's TV studio.
Additionally, Interbike exhibitors interested in advertising or running pre-recorded video segments on the Interbike video feed network or sponsoring the Media Center should contact the Interbike sales staff at sales@interbike.com or call 949-226-5712.
Please note that the Interbike Press Room will still be located downstairs on the first floor of the Sands Expo Center as in past years, and will include computers with Internet access. Additionally, exhibitor media kits will only be available in the Press Room.
On Monday and Tuesday, credentialed journalists who have registered in advance will need to pick up their badge holder at the Interbike media registration counter before boarding the buses traveling to the OutDoor Demo and will be fast tracked so the can make the early buses. Journalists who have not registered in advance will also need to go to the Interbike media registration counter to register and receive a badge and badge holder before boarding the buses traveling to OutDoor Demo.
During the indoor portion of the show (Wed. - Fri.) all badge holder pickup and onsite registration will be handled in the Press Room.
Interbike 2006 was attended by close to 450 working media, representing a 15 percent increase versus 2005 attendance. For the first time, Interbike invited "new media" representatives to the show, such as bloggers, but at the same time tightened the verification process to ensure a higher quality of accredited journalists reporting on the show. All members of the working media are invited to attend the 2007 OutDoor Demo and Interbike Expo and can register online at http://www.interbike.com/ib/press/register.jsp.
