Triathlon Pavilion Added As Newest Community At Interbike
- Popular Urban Yard Returns for 2nd Year As Segment Grows -
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. – September 7, 2012 – Interbike, the largest bicycle industry trade show in North America, today announced details surrounding two unique communities at the event – The Triathlon Pavilion and the Urban Yard. The newly created Triathlon Pavilion embraces the spirit of the sport by designating an area for retailers and manufacturers to gather, network, learn and recharge. The Urban Yard returns to Interbike for the 2nd year, bringing the growing urban ride culture to one community area on the Interbike floor for retailers to experience.
The Triathlon Pavilion, hosted by Triathlon Business International (formerly Triathlon America), will be the epicenter of triathlon technology. Attendees will be able to meet the people, and see the products & performance improvements that will make 2013 triathlon’s finest year ever. Several tri-specific educational seminars are planned, including two sessions by Kristen Carroll, Active.com’s Vice President of Corporate Communications. Carroll will share results from a recent survey studying what’s in the minds of triathletes, emerging trends and insight into how the bike industry can reach this audience.
Also returning after several jam-packed seminars in 2011 is Dan Empfield, Slowtwitch.com’s founder and CEO. Empfield will be conducting clinics on the many fit systems available today, as well as new tips on how retailers can capitalize on the very attractive wetsuit market.
“The Triathlon Pavilion is not just an aggregation of booths making triathlon products,” said Empfield. “It’s a community, where education, networking, news, commerce, and deal making will all take place. There’s no other pavilion like it at Interbike.”
Retailers seeking to immerse themselves in the urban bike culture need to look no further than the Urban Yard. Sponsored by Chrome, the Urban Yard is the right place to find the latest in urban bike products, buy a custom t-shirt at the T-Bar, access free WiFi, or grab a drink and get your groove-on while listening to the Chrome DJ.
“Chrome is excited to work with Interbike again this year to create the Urban Yard,” said Steve McCallion, Chrome’s President. “Last year’s show was a huge success for us. It was great to see the energy around this important new segment in the bike industry. This year we've added some new elements to the Urban Yard that will help keep the momentum going.”
ARTCRANK makes its return to the Urban Yard with their bicycle-inspired poster artwork created by local artists at affordable prices. Five dollars from every poster purchase will go to support World Bike Relief, a non-profit organization that uses bicycles to give people in developing countries access to independence and a livelihood.
