Participating Brands Nearly Double at The Circuit at Interbike

- Solid Growth Reflects Uptick in North American ebike Popularity -

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. – August 22, 2016 – Interbike, the largest bicycle industry trade show in North America, today announced the return of The Circuit (indoor test track), presented by Shimano, with exhibiting spots now filled to capacity. With the recent rise in popularity across the North American market, more and more brands are incorporating ebikes into their product mix, and retailers are starting to see the opportunity that these models present.

“The BPSA recently stated that sell-in numbers for ebikes through June 2016 are up 63.75,” said Pat Hus, Vice President of Interbike. “Ebikes are a bright spot right now in our industry, and retailers have to consider the new customers that these bikes can draw to their stores. We’ll have a full house of the best brands in the industry on display and/or ready to ride in The Circuit, Electric Theatre and on the show floor – there’s no better opportunity to gain knowledge on this category than at the show.”

The Electric Theatre, powered by Bosch, also returns to Interbike with a full slate of daily content surrounding the growing category of ebikes. These free sessions are all less than an hour each, and are presented by many of the top experts in the world of ebikes today. Seminars will run daily from 10am-4pm at the presentation stage near The Circuit. Examples include:

  • The Rise of Electric Bikes in the U.S. – Market Trends, presented by Jonathan Weinert of Bosch and Ryan Citron of Navigant Research
  • Electric Mountain Bikes and Trail Access—Progress and Challenges, presented by Morgan Lommele, PeopleForBikes
  • The Latest Electrifying Research on ebikes and their Health and Transportation Impacts, presented by James Peterman, University Of Colorado Boulder and John MacArthur, Portland State University

Interbike has once again partnered with Extra Energy Services North America (EESNA) to build-out the track and exhibit area. The track will feature a new terrain lane, a ramp, several long straightaway runs and other features to allow attendees to test all aspects of ebikes. The EESNA will also kick off the educational content with a discussion revealing data from the inaugural Electric Bike Expo Tour.

Interbike returns to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center beginning with OutDoor Demo in Boulder City, Nev., September 19-20, 2016, followed by the Interbike Expo September 21-23, 2016.
