Interbike Opens Doors Wider with Simplified Approach

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. – May 23, 2014 – Interbike’s tradeshow organizers announced today that they will be casting a wider consumer net and making it much easier for cycling enthusiasts to participate in this year’s upcoming event. For the second year in a row the September event will culminate with a special guest day on Friday, September 12th. Presented as Customer Appreciation Day, show organizers will allow the general public to enter the show hall on that Friday for a nominal fee. Interbike believes that retailers will continue to invite their best customers, but the show will supplement that effort with a broader reach of their own and a much simpler registration process.

“We weren’t happy with our results last year and we know that we can do better to make this day much more important for everybody,” said Pat Hus, Interbike’s Vice President. “Our goals remain the same - we want to drive sales activity back to the stores and provide improved ROI to our exhibitors. In order to do that we need to fill the halls on Friday with cyclists of all skill levels and experience. We want enthusiasts of course, but we need newcomers and casual riders as well. Ultimately if we can help grow the pie even a little, then we will have accomplished something.”

Plans to help ensure success this year include expanded advertising campaigns with more media partners, promotion via local Las Vegas media outreach and partnering with exhibitors to drive messaging to their targeted audiences. Exhibitor feedback on the Customer Appreciation Day concept is overall positive, with people like Eric Hawkins, President/Owner of Park Tool, wanting to get his brand in front of consumers.

“We applaud Interbike for staying with this initiative,” said Hawkins. “We've been a big proponent of this move for a long time and feel that it is a natural evolution for the show to take. You only need to look at the success Eurobike enjoys and you’ll see why we think this is a great idea."

Consumer related events happening during Interbike week include Cross Vegas on Wednesday night and the recently announced Las Vegas Pedal Palooza Downtown Criterium presented by Zappos.com on Thursday night. The combination of these events along with Interbike’s Consumer Appreciation Day makes for week long destination to celebrate cycling.

Consumer Appreciation Day registration is now open, and can be accessed by clicking HERE.

Cost per entry is $20.
